What is Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures we offer, using implants to enhance the size, shape and balance of the breasts. It is suited to women who feel their breasts are smaller than they would like, who wish to restore volume lost after pregnancy or weight change, or who want to improve natural asymmetry.

At Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons our focus is always on a natural, proportionate result tailored to your frame and your goals. Every procedure begins with an unhurried consultation with a consultant plastic surgeon, who will discuss implant type, size and placement so the outcome looks and feels right for you.

Who is Suitable for Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation may be suitable for you if you are in good general health, have fully developed breasts, and have realistic expectations about what surgery can achieve. It is commonly chosen by women who feel their breasts are too small, who have lost volume after pregnancy or breastfeeding, or who wish to improve a difference in size between the two breasts.

Your surgeon will assess your suitability in detail at consultation, taking into account your medical history, lifestyle and goals before recommending the most appropriate approach.

People Also Asked

How long does breast augmentation surgery take?

The procedure typically takes one to two hours under general anaesthetic, and most patients return home the same day or after one night.

Will my breast implants look and feel natural?

Yes. Your surgeon selects implant type, size and placement to suit your frame, so the result looks proportionate and feels natural.

How long do breast implants last?

Modern implants are durable, but they are not lifetime devices. Many last 10–15 years or more; we recommend regular review with your surgeon.

When can I return to normal activities?

Most patients return to work within one to two weeks and resume exercise after four to six weeks, following your surgeon’s guidance.

Can I breastfeed after breast augmentation?

Many women are able to breastfeed after augmentation. Discuss your plans with your surgeon, who will choose an approach that supports this where possible.
