Getting started
Consultations
You can book a consultation online in a few minutes, or contact our team by phone or email and we will arrange a time that suits you. We see patients across our Cheshire and Manchester clinics.
Your first consultation is an unhurried conversation, typically lasting 30 to 45 minutes, with a qualified surgeon from our team. You will discuss your goals, your medical history and the options open to you, with clear, jargon-free advice.
There is never any pressure to proceed — you are welcome to take your time and to get in touch with any follow-up questions afterwards.
Bring a note of your questions and any relevant medical history, including current medications. You are very welcome to bring a partner, friend or family member with you for support. If you would like to prepare, our resources cover most procedures in detail.
We consult and operate across the North West and beyond. See our locations for plastic surgery in Cheshire (our Chester base), Manchester and Barbados, or view all clinic locations.
You will see a fully qualified, GMC-registered consultant plastic surgeon — not a salesperson or adviser. You can read about the surgeons on our team page, including Mr Douglas McGeorge, a former President of BAAPS.
No. We encourage you to take time to reflect on everything discussed, and there is never any pressure to proceed. Your surgeon will give you the information you need to make a confident, unhurried decision, and you can always come back to us with more questions.
Budgeting for surgery
Costs & Finance
Many patients choose to spread the cost of treatment. Our team can talk you through the payment and finance options available for your chosen procedure during your consultation — just ask us and we will explain what is possible.
The cost depends on the procedure, its complexity and your individual needs, so we provide a clear, personalised quotation after your consultation — with no hidden extras. As a starting point, explore pricing guidance on each procedure page:
- Breast augmentation, breast reduction and breast uplift
- Tummy tuck, liposuction and labiaplasty
- Facelift, eyelid surgery, rhinoplasty and ear correction
- Non-surgical treatments such as fillers and anti-wrinkle injections
Purely cosmetic procedures are not usually funded by the NHS, though some reconstructive or functional cases can be. We are a private practice offering consultant-led care with transparent pricing; contact our team to discuss your options.
Your written quotation sets out exactly what is included — typically the surgeon’s fee, the hospital or clinic fee, anaesthetist’s fee and your aftercare appointments. Because everything is agreed up front, there are no surprises. Your surgeon will confirm the details at your consultation.
Healing and downtime
Recovery & Aftercare
Recovery varies by procedure and person, but as a general guide most people plan for a period of rest and a gradual return to normal activity. See our detailed week-by-week guides:
- Facelift recovery — around 2 weeks before feeling presentable
- Breast reduction and breast lift recovery — roughly 1 to 2 weeks off work
- Tummy tuck recovery — typically 2 to 3 weeks
- Liposuction recovery — a few days to a week for most
- Eyelid surgery, ear correction and labiaplasty recovery
Your surgeon will give you a personalised recovery plan at your consultation.
Most procedures need a dedicated rest period before you ease back into daily life, followed by a few weeks avoiding heavy lifting and strenuous activity. As a general guide:
- Breast augmentation — take it easy for 1 to 2 weeks; avoid heavy lifting for 4 to 6 weeks
- Breast reduction and breast uplift — 1 to 2 weeks’ rest before light activity
- Tummy tuck — rest for 2 to 3 weeks; no core strain for around 6 weeks
- Liposuction — a few days’ rest, then gentle movement to aid healing
- Facelift and eyelid surgery — rest with your head elevated for the first week or two
These are guides only — your surgeon will tailor them to you at your consultation.
Your care continues long after your operation. You will have scheduled follow-up appointments to check your healing, plus clear guidance on wound and scar care after surgery. If anything concerns you between visits, our team is always just a phone call away — contact us any time.
You should only drive once you can perform an emergency stop comfortably and are no longer taking strong painkillers — often around 1 to 2 weeks, but longer after abdominal or chest surgery such as a tummy tuck or breast reduction. Always check with your insurer and your surgeon first.
Gentle walking is encouraged early on to support circulation, but strenuous exercise and heavy lifting should usually wait around 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the procedure. Returning too soon can affect your healing and your scars. Your surgeon will confirm when it is safe for your specific surgery.
It depends on your procedure and how physical your job is. Desk-based work is often possible within 1 to 2 weeks after eyelid surgery or breast augmentation, while a tummy tuck or facelift may need 2 to 3 weeks. Our recovery guides give week-by-week detail for each surgery.
Most patients describe discomfort rather than severe pain, well managed with prescribed pain relief. Any soreness usually eases over the first week or two. Your surgeon will explain exactly what to expect for your procedure and how we will keep you comfortable, and our recovery guides describe the day-by-day experience.
How scars heal
Scarring
Often, yes. Depending on the scar, options range from non-surgical scar treatments to surgical scar revision. We also have specific guidance on old and mature scars, raised scars and indented scars.
Yes — most scars are at their most noticeable in the early months and then gradually flatten and fade over 12 to 18 months. How they mature depends on the type of scar and your skin. See understanding scars for how the healing process works.
Good scar care makes a real difference. Following your surgeon’s advice, protecting the area from the sun and using recommended scar treatments all help scars settle and fade. Our guide to scar care after surgery explains exactly what to do and when.
Any surgery that involves an incision leaves some scarring, but our surgeons place incisions carefully — often in natural creases or hidden areas — so scars are as discreet as possible and fade over time. Learn what to expect for your procedure:
- Breast augmentation, breast reduction and breast lift scars
- Tummy tuck and liposuction scars
- Facelift and eyelid surgery scars
Our full scar information hub explains how scars form and heal.
What to expect
Results & Longevity
Modern breast implants are durable but are not designed to last a lifetime, so they may need replacing at some point. There is no fixed expiry date — replacement is guided by how they look, feel and any changes over time. Our guide to implant replacement explains when and why.
Longevity depends on the procedure and on natural ageing. As a guide:
- A facelift typically lasts around 10 years — see how long a facelift lasts
- Breast implants are long-lasting but not lifetime devices — see implant replacement
- Body-contouring results from a tummy tuck or liposuction are lasting when weight stays stable
- Non-surgical treatments such as fillers and anti-wrinkle injections are temporary and need topping up
You will notice a change straight away, but swelling and healing take time to settle — often 3 to 6 months, and up to a year for procedures such as rhinoplasty. Our recovery guides explain how results develop week by week.
A natural-looking result is at the heart of how we work — the aim is for you to look like a refreshed version of yourself, never “done”. Our surgeons take a considered, consultant-led approach tailored to your features. Read more on the science behind natural-looking results.
Suitability and safety
Procedures & Safety
Yes. Every procedure is carried out by a GMC-registered consultant plastic surgeon on the Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery. For example, Mr Douglas McGeorge is a former President of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS). See our full team.
Combining procedures can sometimes be possible and may reduce overall recovery time, but it depends entirely on your health and circumstances — a longer single operation carries its own considerations. Your surgeon will assess what is safe and suitable for you at your consultation, and your safety always comes first.
Yes — many patients choose body or breast surgery once their family is complete. It is usually best to wait until a few months after you finish breastfeeding and your weight has settled. Popular options include a tummy tuck and a breast uplift; see also breastfeeding after breast surgery.
Smoking affects healing and increases surgical and scarring risks, so we strongly advise stopping for several weeks before and after your procedure. Your surgeon will give you clear guidance at your consultation to help you get the safest possible result.
Suitability depends on your health, your goals and your expectations, which is exactly what your consultation is for. Your surgeon will give you honest advice — including if surgery is not right for you, or if a non-surgical option would suit you better.
All surgery carries some risk, but choosing a fully qualified, experienced surgeon and an accredited facility makes cosmetic surgery very safe for suitable patients. We are a consultant-led practice — read about us and meet our team. Your surgeon will discuss the specific risks and benefits of your procedure openly.
We only offer cosmetic surgery to adults aged 18 and over, and some procedures are best suited to when the body is fully developed. Your surgeon will discuss whether the timing is right for you at your consultation.
As with any operation, possible risks include bleeding, infection, scarring and reactions to anaesthetic, though serious complications are uncommon with an experienced surgeon. Your surgeon will explain the specific risks of your procedure clearly so you can make an informed decision. You can also read our scar information for what to expect from healing.
Alternatives to surgery
Non-Surgical Treatments
Results are temporary and vary by treatment. Anti-wrinkle injections typically last around 3 to 4 months, while dermal fillers often last 6 to 18 months depending on the product and area. Top-up treatments keep your results looking fresh.
Very little. Most people return to their day straight after non-surgical treatments, with perhaps some minor redness or swelling that settles quickly. This makes them a popular lunchtime option — get in touch to find out what would suit you.
It depends on the change you want. Non-surgical treatments are ideal for subtle, temporary refreshment with no downtime, while surgery such as a facelift gives more significant, longer-lasting results. Our guide comparing facelift vs dermal fillers can help, and your surgeon will advise honestly at your consultation.
Our non-surgical treatments refresh your appearance with little to no downtime. They include dermal fillers to restore volume and smooth lines, and anti-wrinkle (botulinum) injections to soften expression lines.
